Rebates for home upgrades that limit climate change 

ALAMEDA COUNTY, FOCUSING ON OAKLAND AND BERKELEY

U.S. Department of Energy Home Energy Score

  • $200 rebate towards a Home Energy Score assessment that will tell you how much you could save from energy upgrades

 

BayREN Home+  

  • Up to $5000 in rebates for eligible energy efficiency upgrades such as insulation and high efficiency furnaces, air conditioners, and water heaters

  • This is a new program for 2019 and details are not yet online; we will update links as the BayREN website is updated to reflect their 2019 program

 

Pacific Gas & Electric

  • $50 rebate for a smart thermostat that replaces a manually operated thermostat

  • $50 rebate for a smart thermostat that replaces a programmable thermostat

  • $300 rebate for a high-efficiency electric heat pump storage water heater

  • Up to $5500 in rebates for energy efficient upgrades that lead to a minimum 10% energy savings

  • The last of these programs is new for 2019 and details are not yet online; we will update links as the PG&E website is updated to reflect this new program

 

Spectrum Community Services Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program

  • FREE house call from energy specialists to assess energy saving opportunities

  • FREE energy efficiency upgrades, including the possibility to replace bigger ticket items such as major appliances and doing upgrades such as insulation

  • Income of participants must be below specific limits. Priority is also given to households with seniors, disabled persons, and children under 6.

 

Energy Savings Assistance Program

  • FREE house call from energy specialists to assess energy saving opportunities

  • FREE energy-saving upgrades, including the possibility to replace bigger ticket items such as major appliances and doing upgrades such as insulation

  • Income of participants must be below specific limits

Rising Sun Center for Opportunity Green House Call

  • FREE house call from energy specialists to assess energy and water saving opportunities

  • FREE energy- and water-saving devices, such as powerstrips and LED light bulbs (also free installation!)

  • In Alameda county, this service is available to all single- and multi-family dwellings, including apartments.

  • This service is available in July and August only

 

OhmConnect

  • $35 rebate (which makes it FREE!) on  TP-LINK Smart Plug With Energy Monitoring HS-110 ($17.50 rebate when you order the plug, and another $17.50 rebate if you connect the plug to your OhmConnect account)

  • $10 cash for linking your PG&E account to your OhmConnect account

  • $10 cash when you connect a smart device to your OhmConnect account

  • Earn cash or be eligible to win prizes if you reduce your electricity use during “OhmHours,” which are times of peak energy demand when dirtier power plants come online

Dr. Power

  • FREE app, available on for iPhone, Android, and online, that takes you through the appliances and devices in your home to help you identify ways to cut electric costs with as few lifestyle changes as possible.

  • Online coaching is also available.

HomeIntel

  • FREE energy efficiency program that links to your PG&E account.

  • Program includes online energy analysis based on smart meter data, custom recommendations based on your home's energy profile, an energy coach for email, phone and in-home consultations, and reports that are updated monthly to track progress.
